Israel Beer Festival This Friday

Good news for beer lovers currently in Israel.

This Friday March 9 (AKA Shushan Purim), the Matte Yehuda Regional Council is holding its annual Boutique Brewery Festival in Moshav Tzafririm from 10:00am-5:00pm. In the hearty atmosphere of Purim, 11 local boutique breweries will be offering their home grown Eretz Yisrael beers in numerous creative flavors.

The Land of Israel blossoms with its own beer

After Israel saw a surge of boutique wineries in the last 15 years, breweries are the new, cutting-edge industry on the rise.

As a general rule, light-colored beers around the world are kosher and do not require kashrut supervision, but dark beers do - so ask before going dark.

Bring a wad of shekels because the beer tasting and guzzlin' gets costly, but it sure is a culinary delight and a lot of fun. Many of the beer-masters are on site and enjoy telling the stories of their quest for good, Jew Beer.

During the day, there are hours with live music, and food stands are on site, though not all of them are kosher.

If you don't see me there, look for a guy laying under a table.
